The Rural Opioid and Direct Support Services (ROADSS) project is designed to produce maximum benefit to all parties. Our center has developed a practice pro forma that shows the expected financial implications of its implementation. This program is expected to be financially self-sustaining but is highly dependent on reimbursement rates along with other implementation factors. The most critical of these factors is the number of auxiliary sites being established in partnership with a central clinic (opioid treatment program), which can be changed in the spreadsheet to show potential impact. Revenue in the spreadsheet is based on New York State bundle reimbursements and should be changed in accordance with your state reimbursement rates.
Pursuing one or more of the following can positively impact the financial implications in a material way:
- Gain share contracts/partnerships with insurance companies
- Reduction of readmission penalties
- Measuring return on investment for the community at large
Combined with grant funding sources, this program has the potential to more than cover its costs and should be carefully considered and discussed with your financial team. This program does require a higher capital investment than most of our programs; however, we are confident that with grant funding and partnerships, this barrier can be overcome.
